What the JLPT N4 tests
The N4 tests language knowledge (vocabulary and grammar), reading and listening. They are scored as two parts: language knowledge and reading together, and listening. Language knowledge and reading are two sittings, 80 minutes in all, then comes listening. Out of 180, you pass with a total of at least 90 and every part at or above its minimum:

How it works
- Daily set: a short mixed set of vocabulary, grammar and reading each day.
- By question type: drill one format, such as sentence order (★) or information retrieval.
- Explanations: after each answer, why the right option is right and why each wrong one is wrong, with a link to the lesson that teaches the point — and an AI explanation of the option you picked.
- Review list: questions you miss, mark “I don’t know”, or flag “I guessed” after getting right come back the same day, after 3 days and after 7 days, until you get them right.
- Progress stays in this browser; no account needed.

- Yes — no ads and no sign-up.
- How close is it to the real JLPT?
- Item types, layout and difficulty follow the real N4; grammar and reading carry furigana, as on the test. All questions are original, not past papers.
- Is there listening?
- Yes. Play the recording (as often as you like), answer, then read the transcript with furigana and a translation, and replay any line on its own.
- Want a timed run?
- Take the N4 mock test: the real structure and timing, with an estimated score.
